SolSeed Landscapes

Who they are

SolSeed Landscapes are a family-run business based in the beautiful historical Sussex town of Lewes. Brett and Hayley, the owners of the company are a well-rounded team. Brett has over 15 years of experience in landscaping design and architecture and has the inspiration and particular knowledge of ecological, environmental and edible landscapes. Meanwhile Hayley draws the intricate and bespoke designs bringing their joint vision to life. They specialise in landscape design and various landscaping services including both hard and soft landscaping.

What they do

Their knowledge and experience of designing environmental and ecological gardens and landscapes enables them to create sustainable and high-quality outdoor spaces no matter the environment. In particular, Brett specialises in the design of edible landscapes incorporating trees and plants, the fruit of which can be eaten, to maximise sustainability. They work with architects, designers, sustainable contractors and also directly with commercial and public sector customers plus homeowners. To ensure outdoor spaces continue to thrive, they also offer environmental grounds maintenance.

What they needed

When we first started working with SolSeed Landscapes in 2020, we were tasked with building a new website from scratch and then starting a programme to share company and industry information plus their expertise and experience, via blog posts on the website and social posts, electronic e-newsletters etc, plus an initial PR campaign.

What we did for them

Following a couple of months working closely with Brett and a website developer, we produced rich content, to maximise search results and launched the new website. We then proceeded to populate the website over the following months with additional pages to showcase and further optimise their wide range of services. These came in the form of increasing the pages available in the menu and adding landing pages geared to obtaining traffic from organic searches on Google etc.
We worked closely with SolSeed to obtain photos and details from completed projects, which helped form the basis for some of the case studies and blog posts.

What was achieved

Following the launch of the new website and the subsequent posts and pages, Brett advised that he had received an increase in enquiries and that things were working well. We saw some great results in and were on an upward trajectory across our KPIs.

Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, Brett had to reduce their costs and marketing was one of the activities that was cut. We ceased operations for two years. On return, we ran several performance reviews and identified that the rankings of the website had plummeted from the lack of activity for a prolonged period of time. This demonstrates just how important it is to keep at least some activity, even when there is an urge to reduce the marketing budget.

The good news is that we have been working hard over recent months to reverse that decline and have been adding new pages to the site including tweaking some existing ones to showcase new services offered and recent projects.

Summary

We strongly believe that our input over the past years has had an advantageous effect on the operations at SolSeed Landscapes and with the continued input from the crew at Calibre, the company is in good stead to continue to grow and outperform both local and wider competition.
