Our associate and friend, Rachel Stone, has published her first book ‘Spend time with me – A story to Inspire Transformational Leaders’ and the Calibre Crew are proud to help her promote it.

For Rachel, a highly experienced leadership trainer and coach, share her story to help others do the same, especially those in leadership roles. Using a wide range of experience, skills and knowledge gained whilst working in management in a variety of sectors including manufacturing, retail, commercial and education (in both small limited companies to large PLCs) Rachel set up her own business, a training and coaching company in 2012. Rachel specialises in management training and business & executive coaching.
The highlight of the process so far was to receive the email below. It is from my absolute hero, and inspiration for why I do what I do, and where I am now in my life, Damian Hughes:
“It is very exciting to hear about your publishing interest. I’m delighted for you. I have really enjoyed reading your book. It’s incredibly personal, powerful and profound. You have a real writing talent.
There is a famous – possibly apocryphal – story about Pablo Picasso which I was reminded of, whilst reading Rachel’s incredibly personal and extremely powerful book. One day, Picasso welcomed a stranger into his studio. On the floor in the middle of the studio, he had a large lump of rock. The visitor asked Picasso what he intended to do with it. ‘From that rock, I will sculpt a lion,’ the great artist replied.
The visitor was taken aback. It’s hard to imagine how anyone could create anything from such a rock. In obvious awe of Picasso, he asked the master nervously what, how and where one might start the process of creating a lion from such an unpromising block of stone.
‘Oh, it’s very simple,’ Picasso replied. ‘I just take my chisel and knock off all the bits that don’t look like a lion.’
This engaging book is like sitting and listening to Rachel explain how she became a life-changing coach by removing all of the parts in her life that don’t help and just keeping the parts that do.
